We established the Apollo English Centre in 1995 with the mission of training the young Vietnamese generation to become global citizens to promote prosperity and help them change the world for the better. For us, the biggest reward is seeing people's lives become better thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of the talented teachers at Apollo. KHALID MUHMOOD MBE

Education investor and co-founder

Graduated in Business Law (University of Hertfordshire) and holds a Master's Degree in Education (University of Exeter). Khalid served as chairman of the British Business Group in Vietnam for many years, as well as chairman of the Education Working Group at the Vietnam Business Forum. Khalid and his wife, Arabella Peters, have been working in the education sector in Vietnam since 1994, co-founding Apollo English, British University Vietnam, and the British Education Partnership.
He was honored to be awarded the medal “For the Cause of Education” by the Ministry of Education and Training and The Queen of England bestowed the honorary award of MBE on him in recognition of his contribution to the development of education in Vietnam.
ARABELLA PETERS

Education investor and co-founder

Educated in the UK, Arabella holds an honors degree in Economic Law from the University of Hertfordshire.
In 1995, she came to Vietnam, co-founded Apollo English and British University Vietnam.
Arabella has been officially honored by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Ministry of Education and Training for her contributions to Vietnam.
She is the first foreign woman working in the private sector to receive the medal “For the Cause of Education” from the Ministry of Education and Training.
In addition, she was also honored by Vietnam Television for her contributions to the success of “The Road to Olympia”.
DUGIE CAMERON

Advisor to the Board

Dugie Cameron has been in the education industry for over 30 years, including 25 years at Pearson International Education.
As president of Pearson Asia Pacific for seven years, Dugie has helped transform the company's position and refocus Pearson's business structure in 17 countries.
Dugie served as a director of more than 10 international joint ventures. He has a lot of experience in the field of educational publishing during his time at Harper Collins, as well as teaching English in Italy.
RICHARD EU

Member of the Board

Richard is the Group Chairman of Eu Yan Sang International Ltd (EYS), an appointment he has held since October 2017.
Prior to this appointment, Richard served as the Group Managing Director and Group CEO of EYS, transforming it into one of Asia’s largest TCM groups today. Under his leadership for over 28 years, the Group has successfully established itself in the broader market of natural wellness and has introduced TCM to new consumers with products and services to meet the needs of a modern lifestyle.
Richard Eu was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 (Singapore) and represented Singapore at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of The Year 2012 award in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He was also recognised as the CEO of the year by the Singapore Corporate Awards 2010, for SGX-listed companies with a market capitalisation of under S$300 million. In 2016, he was lauded as the Brand Leader of the Year by Influential Brands.
Prior to joining EYS, Richard, who holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from London University, UK, worked in merchant banking, investment management, stock broking, computer distribution and venture capital.
Richard is also currently the Chairman of Tuan Sing Holdings Limited and SUTL Enterprise Limited, both SGX listed companies. He also sits on the board of other private companies including Nippon Life India Asset Management Singapore Pte Ltd and Dragonfly Education Group. Apart from private sector interests, Richard actively participates in community projects and non-profit organisations. Most recently, Richard was conferred the Public Service Medal at the Singapore National Day Awards 2020 in recognition of his contribution to society as Chairman of Singapore University of Social Sciences.

Expertise

With three decades of experience and as the only organization in Vietnam upholding international standards in teaching and operations, supervised by International House, Apollo English is proud to be a reliable expert, making a real difference in your child's educational pathway.

Apollo English teachers are selected through an extremely stringent process. They must hold a university degree from their native country, possess an international certificate in teaching English to second language learners (e.g., CELTA, TESOL), have at least 60 hours of classroom experience, and demonstrate a strong understanding of children's routines and psychology.

International House conducts periodic inspections to ensure that teachers and the operating system meet international standards. This independent accreditation evaluates various aspects, including facilities, courseware, teacher skills, communication with parents, and interviews with both parents and students.

Insight

Proprietary methods and a state-of-the-art learning ecosystem enable continuous monitoring and evaluation to identify potential strengths and areas for improvement. This ensures children are motivated and supported promptly, complemented by a clear and transparent learning report system.

The learning reports are automatically generated and highly transparent, covering attendance rates, self-study habits, skill scores, teacher feedback, and detailed analytics, including how many times a child speaks and whether their answers are correct or incorrect. This information is regularly updated for parents through the Apollo Active app, enabling timely collaboration with Apollo to support and celebrate their child’s progress. This approach has been key to 90% of Apollo students achieving perfect scores in recent Cambridge exams.

Nurture

Apollo is committed to providing children with seamless learning experiences that extend from the classroom to their home. With guidance from top-tier educators, children are immersed in an English-rich environment even at home and can review knowledge in a structured way. This approach is key to fostering a nurturing and inspiring learning environment.

Every success has its own formula. For children, the formula for success in their learning pathway includes:

❣️80% performance on final tests for each course;
❣️75% completion of exercises in the Apollo Active App.
The key is to instill in children the habit of proactive learning at home while consistently providing an immersive English environment, even outside the classroom. To support this, children receive Active App Review exercises after each class, enabling them to quickly reinforce key knowledge in just 10–15 minutes per week. This structured approach significantly enhances outcomes by creating a synchronized learning environment, tailored to your child’s success.

After nearly 30 years of bridging the gap between English and real-world application, Apollo feels an immense sense of pride and gratitude witnessing the growth and accomplishments of our students. We remain committed to further enhancing the learning experiences we offer!

Established

The first Apollo English Center was established by founders Khalid Muhmood and Arabella Peters, with representatives from the British Royal Family and Vietnamese Ministry of Education & Training.

Strategic Partnership

Apollo was a pioneer organization authorized by the Cambridge Examinations. That same year, Apollo became a strategic partner of Vietnam Television (VTV), advising educational programs like “Đường Lên Đỉnh Olympia” and “Rung Chuông Vàng”…

International standard for teacher

Apollo became the only Vietnamese member of International House (IH), the world's oldest and largest network of independent language schools.

International standard program

In collaboration with Oxford University Press, Apollo was a pioneer to launch the Get-Set-Go international standard curriculum, which is after 2 years and until now widely used in Vietnamese education.

Following the success of Get-Set-Go, Apollo launched the global citizen training system AGLS in 2017 - a strategic cooperation with the best book publisher National Geographic Learning.

Member of the British Royal Family

Founder Khalid Muhmood was awarded “Vì Sự Nghiệp Giáo Dục” by the Ministry of Education and Training (2006) for his contributions to Vietnamese education. He was also knighted by a member of the royal family in 2008.

Centers in Southern Vietnam

Saying “goodbye” to traditional teaching methods, Apollo became the first organization to introduce Internet and IWB interactive boards in Vietnamese classrooms, replacing traditional learning methods that relied on blackboards and CDs.

Global Citizenship Training

In 2018, Apollo was awarded the "Education Platform of the Year Award" at the Education Investor Asia Summit for its innovative global citizenship training program for Vietnamese children.

Apollo has expanded its reach to over 70 centers nationwide and has been recognized with prestigious awards including the Deloitte Award, Best Managed Company, and the APEA Inspiring Brand Award.

The 2024 Cambridge Certificate Award Ceremony marked a significant milestone for Apollo English, as the organization achieved record-breaking numbers both in students and the quality of results. With nearly 90% of students achieving perfect scores, Apollo English has affirmed its reputation as a leading English language training provider in Vietnam, demonstrating outstanding quality and solidifying its position at the forefront of the industry.
